Coyotes confirm intention to purchase land in Mesa

The Arizona Coyotes issued a press release today, confirming reports that Coyotes Owner, Chairman, and Governor Alex Meruelo has executed a Letter of Intent to purchase a plot of land in Mesa, Arizona.

John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports reported that the Coyotes are looking to purchase 41 acres in Mesa, although the exact site is unknown. Arizona Sports and the Coyotes’ press release advise that the team will continue exploring other options in the East Valley, so this site may not be the final location.

This is welcome news for Coyotes fans, especially after the failures of Prop 301, 302, and 303 in Tempe. Losing the election in Tempe was a significant setback for the franchise, although they have quickly recovered.

By announcing the Letter of Intent to purchase lands, the organization shows a commitment to keeping the Coyotes in Arizona, something fans definitely need. Combined with a strong offseason bringing in some solid free agents like Matt Dumba, Jason Zucker, and Alex Kerfoot, along with Logan Cooley signing an entry-level contract, and fans have plenty to look forward to.
