Nick Bjugstad isn’t the only one coming back to the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes announced that they had signed defenseman Troy to a one-year deal.
Stecher signed with the Coyotes last offseason after splitting the previous year between the Detroit Red Wings and the Los Angeles Kings. He would prove to be a key part of the Coyotes’ blue line, not generating much offense but being a big, physical presence for the Desert Dogs.
Stecher along with forward Nick Ritchie were sent to Calgary Flames in March for Brett Ritchie and Connor Mackey. He would go on to match his offensive output in 20 games with the Flames, scoring three goals and four assists.
The Coyotes may have just drafted a good, young defenseman, but he is at least two years away from making his North American debut. Stecher should prove to be a good stop gap for that time, and could earn a spot as a supporting piece in the future.
