According to the The Hockey Writers Fedotov is “an offensive first forward” with “one of the best shots in the draft, and his scoring acumen is second to none for players at his skill level.”
Some may consider this pick off the board as he was ranked somewhat lower but the NHL draft guru Bob McKenzie pointed out that consolidated rankings are difficult in this pandemic plagued year.
Ilya Fedotov and Kirill Kirsanov are two more not-so-unique cases this year. Difficult profiles to plot in consensus. Each of them got a Top 32 vote - Fedotov’s was actually closer to Top 20 - and a bit of consideration in the early 30s, but mostly they are viewed as 80+.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) July 23, 2021
Regardless it’s no secret that the Coyotes need scoring and that is something Fedotov is known to do.
