Last week, we discussed the possibility of Barrett Hayton being assigned to the AHL to play with the Tucson Roadrunners. Hayton had previously spent the past few games as the fourth-line center, and afterward, he was a healthy scratch for the next two games.
Today, the Coyotes made the move, assigning Barrett Hayton to the AHL.

Through 14 games with the Arizona Coyotes this season, Hayton has 2 goals and a single assist. He has played as a wing with Conor Garland and Nick Schmaltz and has centered the fourth line.
Hayton previously played in Tucson for five games last season on a conditioning stint. This season is the first year that he is eligible to play in the AHL full-time.
This move will allow Hayton to get more consistent ice time with consistent linemates. He should also get some time on the penalty kill.
Hayton is not alone in spending time with the Tucson Roadrunners. Conor Garland, Lawson Crouse, and Christian Fischer have all spent significant time with the Tucson Roadrunners.
