Yesterday it was announced that the Arizona Coyotes prospect defenseman Ty Emberson has been named captain of the University of Wisconsin Badgers.

Emberson was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft 73rd overall. The Eau Claire, WI native has played 70 games for the University of Wisconsin over his past two seasons and has 5 goals and 16 assists during that time.
This is the first time that Emberson has worn a “C” for his time. He previously wore an “A” with Team USA.
The Badgers naming Emberson captain shows how much the defenseman has developed since being drafted. Being named captain is a recognition of leadership and responsibility and shows the faith that the NCAA has placed in him.
The Coyotes have plenty of defensive prospects so there is absolutely no reason to rush Emberson. He can continue to improve in the NCAA until he is ready to jump to the NHL or AHL.
