This year’s World Juniors is coming to an end, and unfortunately, it looks like another of the Coyotes top prospects was injured.
Sounds like outlook on Canada captain Barrett Hayton’s injury is not positive. He hasn’t been ruled out and team plans to reevaluate in the morning, but the belief going to bed Sat night was that Hayton is a bit of a long shot to play in the gold medal game. #WorldJuniors

Barrett Hayton has been stellar this tournament and his eleven points are tied for the most. Before leaving the game he had two assists in Canada’s 5-0 win over Finland. Like Jan Jenik, Barrett Hayton is one of the Coyotes’ top prospects and he hopefully won’t be out long.
The other two Coyotes prospects in the game playing for Finland were, of course, held point-less. Matias Maccelli led his team with 22:36 time on ice, although he was limited to just one shot. Aku Raty played a respectable 17:44 and had three shots on goal.
If Hayton does end up sitting out the Coyotes will be without any prospects in the gold medal game. Victor Soderstrom and Sweden were beaten 5-4 by Russia. Soderstrom played 19:32 in the loss, one of the few games where he didn’t lead his team in time on ice. He will have a chance to get a bronze medal against Finland.
