Fan’s thoughts on the NHL All-Star Game

This week’s FanPulse is all about fan’s thoughts on the All-Star Game.

In our continued look at NHL fans’ thoughts this season and this week we look at the NHL All-Star Game.

Last week we wrote about whether or not Coyotes fans should watch the All-Star Game. In general, I’m not a fan of the All-Star Game, and while clearly others feel the same way I’m in the minority. So if you are a fan of the NHL All-Star Game despite everyone complaining about it most fans still watch it.

While the Arizona Coyotes were without a representative at this year’s NHL All-Star, it’s tough to argue that the Cale Makar should have gone. In his rookie season, he has 11 goals and 26 assists in 41 games as a defenseman and is seventh among NHL defensemen in points.

Historically, defensemen take longer to develop and take more time to get to the NHL. But with players like Cale Makar, Miro Heiskanen, and the Arizona Coyotes’ Jakob Chychrun we are seeing a new crop of young, highly skilled defensemen. Unfortunately, with the Coyotes set to move into the Central Division once Seattle joins the league the Coyotes will be seeing a lot more of Makar.
