Before the start of training camp, we get the prospect development camp. The prospect development camp is a way for teams to evaluate their prospects, offer advise and training to help their development, and give the public a chance to see the future of the team. This past weekend, the Arizona Coyotes released the roster for their upcoming prospect development camp.
This year’s camp will be at Gila River arena from today, June 24, to Friday the 28. Players will be on the ice from 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on June 25 and 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on the June 27. On Friday the 28 at 7 p.m. the team will host an intra-squad scrimmage, allowing fans to see the players compete.
This will be fan’s first opportunity to see newly drafted players like 2019’s first round pick Victor Soderstrom along with forwards John Farinacci, Matias Maccelli, Aku Raty and others. Along with new picks, players who are closer to breaking into the league will also be present including defensemen Cam Dineen and Pierre-Olivier Joseph and forwards Barrett Hayton, Tyler Steenbergen, Nate Schnarr, and Jan Jenik.
Along with players the Coyotes have drafted, several free agents and camp invites will be at this year’s camp. Camp invites include: defenseman Brady Lyle along with forwards Sean Dhooghe, Yaroslav Likhachyov, and Jackson Shepard. Free agents include goaltender Mitchell Weeks and forwards Keeghan Howdeshell, Kelly Klima, Brayden Burke, and Matteo Gennaro.
