Yesterday was a slow day for the World Junior Championship. Of the four teams that played on Team USA had a prospect in the Arizona Coyotes’ system.
Team USA beat team Germany 6-3 and was the first win of the tournament for the team. Defenseman Ty Emberson played 18:50 during that game, third among all players for Team USA.
Emberson is a defensive defenseman, which makes it harder to judge his performance from just a stats line. Emberson was a +2 and had his first shot of the tournament.
Since the Arizona Coyotes have traded defensive prospect Kevin Bahl to the New Jersey Devils as part of the package that brought Taylor Hall to the desert, Emberson has a great opportunity.
Emberson can easily step into the void created by Bahl’s departure as the team’s top defensive prospect.
