The Arizona Coyotes for whatever reason do not match up well against the Minnesota Wild this season. In their matchup last night not only did the Arizona Coyotes lose 8-5, but they may have lost goaltender Darcy Kuemper to an injury.
Last night Kuemper had to be helped off the ice late in the third period and had some difficulties going to the locker room.

There is currently no timeline for Kuemper’s return.
Kuemper has been extremely important for the Coyotes this season. He currently has a 2.17 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage and is a front runner to win the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender.
With Kuemper out potentially long-term, the Coyotes are going to be relying more on Antti Raanta. Raanta was initially brought in as the Coyotes starting goaltender, but he has struggled with injuries since coming to Arizona. In 13 games this season he has a 2.72 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
While Kuemper has been key to the Coyotes success this season, losing him doesn’t doom the Coyotes season. The Coyotes still have an extremely good goaltender in Raanta, who has been excellent in past seasons.
UPDATE
Source: Coyotes feel they caught a break with G Darcy Kuemper’s lower-body injury in Thursday’s loss to Minnesota, but he may not return before the All-Star break. Wouldn’t be surprised if Antti Raanta plays both games of this back-to-back trip w/the holiday break following it.
