The Arizona Coyotes announced today that goaltender Antti Raanta has been recalled from the AHL Tucson Roadrunners. Along with this move, the Coyotes have assigned Adin Hill to the Roadrunners.

During the preseason, Raanta had sustained a minor injury and was sent to Tucson to give him a chance to get some playing time in a conditioning assignment.

Raanta would start one game with the Roadrunners which saw him make 19 saves on his way to a shutout.

During preseason it looked like Raanta was still a bit rusty from his injury. Raanta hasn’t played a regular season game since November 27th which saw him play 40 minutes against the Minnesota Wild.

It remains to be seen how much action Raanta will be seeing in the new future. Darcy Kuemper was solid for the Coyotes against the Anaheim Ducks and he may serve as the starter. But it’s great that Raanta’s injury wasn’t serious, and he will hopefully be ready to backstop the Coyotes very soon.
