In light of the injury to defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson, the Arizona Coyotes have recalled defenseman Kyle Capobianco from the Tucson Roadrunners.
Hjalmarsson was injured on Saturday in an overtime loss against the Colorado Avalanche when blocking a shot from Erik Johnson.
Kyle Capobianco started the season with the team while defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin was getting some games in Tucson.
Since being reassigned to back to the Roadrunners, Capobianco has played one game for the Roadrunners which saw him register an assist. Capobianco spent two games with the Coyotes last season before going down with a lower-body injury
According to Craig Morgan of The Athletic, Hjalmarsson will miss a fair amount of time with his lower-body injury. This would be a big blow for the Coyotes who were decimated by injuries last season. While he doesn’t generate offense he is a killer shut down defenseman for the Coyotes. Last season he was second in the league with 187 blocked shots.
