Panik arrested after allegedly refusing to leave bar

New, comments

It’s much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

Richard Panik was arrested for trespassing according to a report by ABC15. According to the report Scottsdale police arrested Panik after he “reportedly refused to leave the entrance of Bevvy” a gastropub in Old Town Scottsdale on April 8 at 8:50 p.m. The report also noted that according to police Panik appeared to be intoxicated during their interaction.

The Arizona Coyotes were quoted in the report with the following statement: “We are aware of the incident and are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation. We will have no further comment at the present time.”

Currently, it is unclear why Panik was being asked to leave before 9 p.m. According to Bevvy’s website their hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to “close” on weekends, although their off-track betting hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sundays so presumably their usual “close” time is at or near 2 a.m. This appears to be Panik’s first incident with the law or any off-ice trouble since entering the league in 2012-13 and hopefully isn’t indicative of any deeper issues.

One thing that is clear is that many are having fun with the news where no one seems to be hurt and only a criminal citation for trespassing was issued.
