The Arizona Coyotes will welcome the Washington Capitals into the desert for a match-up that promises to provide some intriguing story-lines.

Game Preview

Well well well, we have had a pretty eventful last couple of days huh? With the announcement of a Seattle Expansion franchise, our beloved Houston sorry...Arizona Coyotes moving to the Central division in a few years, and a great victory over the Los Angeles Kings, this game tonight will be a breath of fresh air.

All joking aside, the Coyotes played very well against the Kings even though there was some adversity with Michael Grabner’s injury.

Lawson Crouse and Nick Schmaltz were the heroes for the Yotes as there goals were the driving force behind the 2-1 win. Nick Schmaltz has been a huge surprise for me, the trade that was labeled as “Inconsistency for Twice as much Inconsistency” seems to be more consistent then we realized. That line with Alex Galchenyuk, Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz has been pretty good. While Galchenyuk has not shown up in the stat sheet, many around the league are taking notice.

In terms of the Washington Capitals, they are coming off of a 5-3 loss that they may want to forget for many reasons. The biggest one being this hit that sent Tom Wilson (and his helmet) flying through the air.

The Capitals are currently 15-9 and are above league average in a lot of categories. Their goals for are 12 above the league average (which is 85). Their power play percentage of 26.44% is almost 6% higher that league average. The penalty kill for the Yotes has been an issue and this will perhaps be one of the biggest stories of the game tonight.

Players to Watch

Arizona: Alex Galchenyuk. With the incredible season that Max Domi is having, the spotlight then goes on the other side of the trade. Galchenyuk and the line that he occupies have been very good given the production from earlier. Here is to hoping he can get on the stat sheet tonight.

Washington: This is not about a certain player but it will be interesting to see how the Capitals handle the Tom Wilson and T.J. Oshie injuries. Yes it is a cop out but it will be interesting to follow.

Injuries

Arizona: Antti Raanta (questionable, lower body), Michael Grabner (eye), Darcy Kuemoer (lower body), Jason Demers (knee), Christian Dvorak (pectoral)

Washington: Tom Wilson (out, concussion), T.J. Oshie (out, concussion), Brooks Orpik (out, knee)
