Anthony Duclair has signed a 1-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes, becoming the last restricted free agent of the Coyotes to sign.
Duclair had a very rough season last year playing 58 games for the Coyotes and only scoring 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points. A massive under achievement from his rookie season of 81 games played with 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points in 2015-16. Duclair was also sent down to the AHL Tucson Roadrunners, where he played 16 games and only scored 1 goal and had 7 assists for 8 points.
Duclair’s shooting percentage was down from his first year to second year by more than ten percent, which could be why he struggled last season. This also means he stopped shooting as much during games.
The deal has all of the signs of a true ‘Show Me’ contract. The reported $1.2 million dollar contract is low risk, high reward. If he bottoms out again, no real loss, but if he improves back to 20 goals, it's a relatively inexpensive contract for 15 more goals.
