It would have been a great game to watch, but we in Arizona only got to listen to the Duck’s call of the 5-1 thrashing of the Anaheim squad.
It all started with Christian Fischer scoring 24 seconds into the game, getting behind the Ducks defense.
The Ducks scored halfway through the first period then it was all the Coyotes after that.
The Coyotes seemed to have cracked the defense of the Ducks that was being led by Cam Fowler and Kevin Bieksa.
Christian Fischer walked away with a three-point night (2-1-3), as did Clayton Keller (2-1-3). Max Domi had a two-point night 1-1-2 and was on the ice for four of the Coyotes goals.
I think it's safe to say, the kids might ruin some goalies lives this season.
The NHL is wanting to crack down on slashing calls, and boy did they do that during the game. Five slashing calls for the Coyotes and three for the Ducks. We also saw two penalties of Face-off Violation, both from the Ducks.
Without being able to see what had happened, I feel like we will all be confused about this rule until we see it in action ourselves.
There was one fight, Emerson Etem versus Korbinian Holzer, which was weird but it's the preseason and Etem is an ex-Duck. We just don’t know.
Clayton Keller lead ice time for the forwards with 17:45 and defensively it was Adam Clendening with 22:03. The younger players are being trusted by the new staff and pushed to see what they can do.
