Coyotes Flash Update: April 2nd

Something new from FFH, Coyotes flash update for your pre-game reading.

NHL: Washington Capitals at Arizona Coyotes Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to a new feature for the site! Flash updates will cover important things that have happened that we didn’t cover or somehow missed. This will be a mid-afternoon pick-me-up in our coverage!

Injury Update

The Coyotes have released some information on Brad Richardson and he has been shutdown for the season. On Friday he had surgery to remove the hardware in his leg from the surgery on November 18th. Here is the quote about Richardson from John Chayka via Craig Morgan.

You can read the whole release here.

It’s nice to know Richardson is healing properly and should be back for next season. He has been missed in the line up for sure.

Off The Injured List

Kevin Connauton is going to be back in the line up tonight against Los Angeles after missing 15 games due to an upper-body injury he received during the March 2nd game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Your Starter Is...

Mike Smith is the starter tonight after missing two games because he was under the weather. Hopefully he can backstop the Coyotes to a win as a Kings loss my any means tonight knocks them out of the playoffs.

#CunnyDid

On Friday, Craig Cunningham skated for the first time since his heart medical emergency and the amputation of his left lower leg. The Tucson Roadrunners’ twitter caught the moment as he skated with Conor Garland.

To be skating less than 5 months after his medical emergency is amazing. The smile at the end says it all. Craig Cunningham is a fighter, and we will see him doing great things again.

Craig Cunningham will be honored on Saturday, April 8th at the last game of the season at Gila River Arena. If you can make it out to the game, it should be a very special night.
