Coyotes lose late to the Penguins for sixth straight loss

The Coyotes almost came out with a point, but the Pittsburgh was able to steal all the points with 14.7 seconds left.

The Coyotes were horrifically outshot 33 to 17 in the end.

Scoring Summary

First Period

No scoring in the first period, but the Coyotes were in penalty trouble twice in the first period. They only had five shots on goal in the period.

Second Period

1-0 Penguins, Rowney (Shorthanded): Bryan Rust steals the puck from Max Domi in the offensive zone goes 2-on-1 with Carter Rowney and Rowney buries it at 14.38.

2-0 Penguins, Malkin: Connor Sheary goes 2-on-1 with Evgeni Malkin who knocks it in five-hole on Raanta at 18:59.

2-1 Penguins (Coyotes) Cousins: Jordan Martinook makes Ian Cole fall down and Brad Richardson pokes it to Nick Cousins. Cousins goes gloveless 2-on-1 with OEL, who he looks off and takes a shot from the circle and snipes it over Murray’s glove hand at 19:51.

Third Period

2-2 Tie (Domi)- Clayton Keller brings the puck across Murray’s crease. Matt Murray rebounds the puck out to Max Domi who buries his third (that’s right) goal of the year at 9:43.

3-2 Penguins (Määttä): Olli Määttä from the top of the circle scores with 14.8 seconds left.

4-2 Penguins (Crosby): Sidney Crosby ices the game with an empty-netter with 4.7 seconds left.

Can Oliver Ekman-Larsson neutralize Sidney Crosby?

He did, up until the last goal, where Crosby got an empty net goal.

Who gets the start?

Raanta got the start tonight, showing that even after the injury he is the Coyotes number one goaltender.

Will we see Nick Merkley?

Nope, but we’ll probably see him Tuesday against the Panthers.

Arizona- Antti Raanta: Raanta did his best only allow 3 goals on 30 shots.

Pittsburgh- Olli Määttä: Saved the Penguins from going down 3-2 with about two minutes left then put the game-winning goal into the Coyotes net with 14.7 seconds left on a great shot.
