The Arizona Coyotes announced yesterday that they have re-signed forward Craig Cunningham to a one year, two contract. Per General Fanager, Cunningham will make $600,000 in the NHL and $200,000 in the AHL and is guaranteed $250,000.
Originally a waiver wire pickup from the Boston Bruins during the 2014-15 season, the forward only appeared in 10 games with the NHL club this season, during which he registered an assist. In his four seasons with the Coyotes and Bruins, Cunningham has played in 63 games and registered 3-5-8 with 6 PIMs.
During his 61 games with the Springfield Falcons this past season, he registered 22-24-46, good enough for the team lead in points as he served as team captain. He has scored at least 20 goals in every full season he has spent in the AHL.
While the Trail, BC native isn't the biggest piece the Coyotes need to lock up, he is an important player for Arizona's AHL affiliate and will likely be one of the first players to get called up in the event of an injury to the parent club.
It's a small signing, but it's a good one.
