When news of IceArizona's purchase of an AHL franchise first broke, we wanted to know what you thought a Tucson AHL team should be named.
1337 of you participated in our online poll, and the winner as chosen by you all was...
Teamy McTeamface?
Yes, 540 of you people thought IceArizona should succeed where Great Britain's Natural Environment Research Council failed. Unfortunately for you all, Anthony LeBlanc has already prepared for such a contingency.
Coyotes CEO is slightly worried the naming contest will result in Teamy McTeamFace, but the contest results are not binding :) @yoohyun_jung

All kidding aside, the serious suggestion with the most votes was the Tucson Roadrunners with 419 votes, followed by the Tucson Coyotes with 155 votes, and the Tucson Gila Monsters with 137 votes. We also got some fantastic suggestions on Twitter and in the comments section. Here's just a small sample:
@Five4Howling Can we bring back the Tucson Sidewinders name that used to be the @Dbacks AAA team? #TucsonTeamName

@Five4Howling what about the "Tucson Javelinas" or the "Tucson Duststorm"? #TucsonTeamName

@Five4Howling Or, could play off DM Airforce Base with the A-10s. How about Warthogs or Thunderbolts? #TucsonTeamName

@Five4Howling the tucson tracks, cause who doesn't enjoy alliteration and playing up all the coyotes paw print motifs

The team's official Name the Team Contest is now underway, so here's your chance to become immortalized in Arizona hockey history.
And please, for all of our sakes, pick something other than Teamy McTeamface.
