Meet our new writers!

We’d like to introduce the newest members of our writing team!

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays-Press Conference Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

A few weeks ago, we put out a call for more writers to join our Five For Howling team. We were overwhelmed by the response; so many candidates applied that we had a difficult time narrowing down our choices.

But narrow down we have, and so we would like to introduce our newest members! We invited them to give us all a little biography about themselves.

Michael Morrissey

Ed: Michael was a part of our team for a brief period of time last year before he was prevented from writing for us for a while. When you see his bio, you’ll probably understand why.

Coming from all the way from Australia, Michael attended his first ever Arizona game in person this season and was among the sell out crowd for the opening night win against Philadelphia. He began following the Coyotes many years ago and was an avid reader of "The Good, the Bad and the Coyotes" - however when that did not satisfy his hunger for Coyotes news alone, he branched out and discovered Five For Howling.

Now a second year writer at FFH, Michael hopes to build on what he learned about the Coyotes and writing last season. Formerly an English high school teacher, Michael now spends all his time watching hockey and trying to find a way to immigrate to North America.

Joseph Versen

Raised in Scottsdale and educated at Villanova University, Joe Versen is a young government professional living and working in Washington, D.C. In addition to praying to some nondescript deity that Mike Smith stays healthy, he spends his free time bemoaning his fantasy football team and listening exclusively to the ‘Hamilton’ cast recording.

Chris Reid

Chris is a happily married father of three, foodie, chef, musician and former banker on Wall Street. I also love hockey and the Coyotes.

Steven Callahan

Steven is one of hose weirdos who loves sports probably more than his own family, yet doesn't root root root for any home team. He swears fantasy sports haven't taken over his life, really, he swears.

He once had delusions of grandeur to play professional hockey, dreams that were quickly squashed by reality when he realized he can't ice skate. You can catch him hot takin and re-tweetin on twitter at @scallahan4091.

Joe Spizzirri

Hey everybody!

My name is Joe Spizzirri but everyone just calls me Rocco. I am a huge and very passionate Coyotes fan and have been going to games since they moved to the valley. I am currently a journalism major at Michigan State University! Although i'm across the country I never miss a game. Go Yotes! Go Green! my twitter is @RoccoJ95.

Stats Staff

Chris Thomas

Chris is long time hockey fan with a passion for sports analytics. When he’s not writing about hockey, he is usually reading about hockey, or maybe watching hockey. His favourite players include pretty much any Swedish defensemen (Erik Karlsson, Alex Elder, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, etc) and Connor McDavid.

Final Thoughts & One More Opening

Be sure to welcome our newest contributors, and expect to see them in this space more regularly as the season progresses.

As you may have noticed, we still do not have a regular Tucson Roadrunners writer. We are still very much interested in bringing somebody on to follow the Roadrunners full-time. Although we would love for that person to be in Tucson to regularly cover games in-person, by no means is the position exclusively open to Tucsonans.
