Richardson has 62 goals and 87 assists over 509 NHL games between the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, and Vancouver Canucks. Here are some of his comparative stats:
As far as depth signings go, this isn't a terrible one by the Coyotes. He has decent offensive production in bottom six minutes, and can play the center and wing as needed.
Still, like Joe Vitale before him, one has to wonder why Richardson is getting a three year contract to play a bottom six role. It seems like an awful lot of term for a depth player.
We will continue to update this story as we receive official word from the organization.
