With their first selection on the second day of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the Arizona Coyotes selected Christian Fischer. Fischer is a right wing who was a member of the USA National Development program.

This past year he finished 3rd on the USNDP U-18 team in points with 31 goals and 33 assists, behind only Arizona's Auston Matthews and Matthew Tkachuk, son of former Coyote captain Keith Tkachuk. Both Matthews and Tkachuk and expected to be high 1st round picks in next year's draft. Fischer is big guy for an 18 year old. He's listed at 6'1" and 212 pounds.

Fischer has committed to play NCAA hockey at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to the draft the Illinois native was ranked 45 by Bob McKenzie and 37 among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, but some experts thought he might go as early as late in the first round.
