Coyotes acquire David Leggio from the Islanders

The Coyotes pick up an AHL goaltender.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Coyotes made a minor move in acquiring a minor league goaltender.

Per multiple reports, the team picked up David Leggio from the New York Islanders, in exchange for AHL forward turned defenseman Mark Louis.

Leggio has played 23 games this season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL, and has recorded a 7-13-1 record with a 3.93 GAA and an .861 save percentage. Yikes.

In case the name sounds familiar to you and you aren't sure why, it's probably because of this:

Leggio's split-second decision got an entire rule changed in the AHL, so even if he never plays a game at the NHL level, he's made a mark on the professional game.

It remains unclear what the team's plans for Leggio are, but as the Trade Deadline inches closer, the Coyotes are running out of time to do much else.
