Zbynek Michalek traded to St. Louis

The Arizona Coyotes have traded Zbynek Michalek to the St. Louis Blues

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The deals keep coming for the Arizona Coyotes.

Zbynek Michalek has been traded to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for prospect Maxim Letunov. The Coyotes also throw in a conditional third round pick, according to the team.

With just two goals and six assists in 53 games, Michalek is Arizona's top stay-at-home defenseman. His HERO chart shows why:

While points will be at a premium with Michalek on the blue line, he absolutely eats up minutes, and his possession numbers are very strong. He can be an excellent supplement to an offensive defenseman (as he was for players like Oliver Ekman-Larsson), as well as an excellent asset on the penalty kill.

With St. Louis' existing depth, Michalek will likely not even play the difficult minutes that he did in Arizona. That bodes well for the Blues, who will have to contend with dynamic offenses in Nashville and Chicago if they want to win the Stanley Cup.

We will update this story when we have more information, but for now, the sell-off continues.
