Going to keep it all positive on This Week in the Pacific Division this time around.
The Ducks keep rolling, the Flames are red-hot in overtime games, and the Coyotes and Oilers are still the Coyotes and Oilers. Let's take a look at some of the happenings around the Pacific:
Anaheim Ducks (30-10-6, 3-0-0 this week)
Stud: Corey Perry. The week for Perry started with a hat trick against Toronto, followed up with a goal and an assist in the next two games. In just 31 games played this year, Perry has 19 goals.
Highlight: This is Corey Perry's second goal of the hat trick, set up by a ridiculous pass by Ryan Getzlaf.
Vancouver Canucks (26-15-3, 3-1-0 this week)
Stud: Ryan Miller. The Canuck goalie had two consecutive shutouts, followed up with a one goal allowed on 24 shots faced against the Panthers. Overall, just that one goal given up on 82 shots.
Highlight: Poor Roberto Luongo.
San Jose Sharks (24-17-6, 2-1-1 this week)
Stud: Justin Braun. The Sharks goals were pretty spread out this week, so let's go with the guy who set up most of those goals. Braun had five assists in the four games.
Highlight: Melker Karlsson sneaks into the crease and buries the puck in the net.
Calgary Flames (25-18-3, 3-0-0 this week)
Stud: Sean Monahan. One goal in each of the three games for Monahan. He also tallied an assist against the Coyotes.
Highlight: This starts with some nice defensive plays, and then Monahan gets the steal and takes it the length of the ice for the goal.
Los Angeles Kings (20-14-12, 0-1-2 this week)
Stud: Marian Gaborik. Not a lot to choose from with the Kings this week, so here's Gaborik with his one goal and one assist.
Highlight: After Drew Doughty does some nifty stick work, Dustin Brown finds himself with the puck and a wide open net.
Arizona Coyotes (16-24-5, 0-3-1 this week)
Stud: Mikkel Boedker. This may be the last chance I get to put him here since he's "week-to-week" with an upper-body injury. Boedker had two goals this week before getting hurt. He also had four takeaways.
Highlight: This is only fun because Lauri Korpikoski's stick breaks on the deflection.
Edmonton Oilers (11-26-9, 1-2-0 this week)
Stud: Benoit Pouliot. In both of the losses, Pouliot had two goals in each of those games, which was the only offensive production from the team.
Highlight: This was his third goal of the week, a SHG against the Lightning.
Hope you enjoyed the all-stud version of TWIPD. See you all next week!
