We are looking to add 3 or 4 new members to our team before the season begins. So if you have a passion for hockey and experience writing (either for a website, a personal blog, newspaper, school, etc.) and would like to join the FFH team, apply!
Weekly Feature Writer (positions available: 2)
We are looking to add two new weekly feature writers that would be be responsible for one story per week. This position requires a weekly story (one writer every Tuesday the other every Sunday) based on an approved theme of the writer's choosing. Themes can range from a weekly satire piece, top plays of the week or a topic that you choose. These stories must be completed every week (with reasonable exceptions) during the season to post at noon on the assigned day of the week.
Requirements for this position include: previous writing experience (preferably feature writing), ability to think creatively, dependability and significant knowledge of the Coyotes.
Game Day Writer (positions available: 2)
Game day writers will write game previews and recaps for every Coyotes game. Roll call for assignments happen before each week, so there is flexibility in what games you choose to cover. Home recaps are covered by our editorial staff, so game day writers will cover mostly road games and home previews. Previews go live at 10 a.m. on game day, recaps go up as soon as possible post-game. Our previews and recaps have a set format to follow. Our recaps require a main body length of at least 400-500 words.
Requirements for this position include: previous writing experience (preferably game previews or recaps), significant knowledge of the Coyotes, ability to watch games on TV, dependability and the ability to write quickly and efficiently.
All positions will be allowed to write about a variety of different topics of their choosing. The jobs above are the primary responsibility of those hired--additional stories are welcomed. These are unpaid positions.
