With a record of 37-30-15, the Phoenix Coyotes will have the 12th overall pick in June's NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia.
Tuesday night's draft lottery also saw the No. 1 overall pick awarded to the Florida Panthers.
Even though the Coyotes finished with the 13th worst record in the NHL, they, and every team behind them, jumped the New Jersey Devils, who will pick 30th overall. The Devils originally had their pick taken away as punishment for circumventing the salary cap when signing Ilya Kovalchuk. That pick was given back earlier this season as the penalties imposed by the NHL were reduced.
