Arizona ended last season with a 32-27-7 record; their 71 points putting them in 7th place in the league. In the playoffs, the Sundogs were swept by the Wichita Thunder in the first round.

During the offseason, Arizona went through many changes; hiring a new coach, ownership changes in the CHL, and the death of one of their owners were those with the most impact. However, the team is heading into this season with stronger community support, as evidenced through season ticket sales, than it has had in several seasons and hopes are high.

New coach Kevin Colley led the way in signing many experienced players to the roster prior to training camp. Damian Surma is the biggest addition to Arizona's forwards. The 11-year veteran has scored 183 goals and had 224 assists in 578 games, and will hopefully boost an offense that placed 8th in the league last season. On defense, the top addition has been Ryan Gaucher. The 35 year-old has collected 134 goals and 423 assists in his 710 game career.

After training camp, Coach Colley cut five players, including Johan Ryd and David Brown, both of who played with the Sundogs in 2012-2013. Three players were then added to the roster, two of whom played for Colley in Utah, and Sebastian Geoffrion who played nine games with Arizona last season. After all the cuts and additions, the Sundogs' Opening Night roster is as follows;
