Douglas Adams wrote that the ultimate answer to the question of life, the universe and everything is 42. Last season the Coyotes answered a different question, "how many wins does it take to become the Pacific Division Champions?" Interestingly enough the Coyotes did not have the most wins in the division last season, San Jose had 43 wins and Dallas had 42 wins too and they weren't even in the playoffs. For the Coyotes 42 was the right number though and along with their 13 overtime points they finished on top with 97 points.
The Coyotes were 22-13-6 at home and 20-14-7 on the road. They won 36 games in regulation or overtime, which is the top for the division and sixth in the Western Conference. I remember times it seemed like the team was unstoppable on the road and not some much at home, although they did start reversing that trend. It wasn't the most wins the Coyotes ever had in a season but it was enough for them to win their division for the first time.
There are a few memorable wins for me, I can't say I remember where I was for ever win, but I was at the last regular season game at Jobing.com we discussed yesterday, and I remember watching the last game against Minnesota at Four Peaks with a few friends and I had tonsillitis at the time. I remember other wins during the season and the celebration that came after them, however those 2 maybe the freshest wins in my mind, not to say the freshest moments.
