Coyotes Tracks - June 23rd, 2012 - Homecoming Edition

Getty Images

Yesterday proved to be a homecoming of sorts for a pair of people. The Phoenix Coyotes selected Henrik Samuelsson as their first round draft pick and they traded defenseman prospect Harrison Ruopp, minor league goalie Marc Cheverie, and a third round pick for Zbynek Michalek. Michalek is a former Coyote who played with the team for five seasons, and Samuelsson grew up in Scottsdale. There is still more to be done today, more players to be picked and more trades to be made, but the Coyotes appear to be doing well and they are making themselves stronger. Of course the Coyotes are not the center of attention in the Michalek story, the story is that the Penguins are freeing up cap space for a big move. But isn't that just the way we like it, flying under the radar of the hockey world?

We've got a lot of news about the new Coyotes after the jump just to get you acquainted and reacquainted with them, we also have news from the draft, some news from around the hockey world, and for our Final Howl we turn to Twitter.
