Coyotes Injury Update 2/9/09

Martin Hanzal is out after taking a hard hit in the Hurricanes game and injuring his shoulder. It looked pretty bad at the time it happened and early reports had him being out several weeks. The Coyotes however have said that he'll miss a game or two, but could be back as soon as Saturday to play the Flames. That's a good sign since he's often played against the opposition's top line and done well against them.

Daniel Carcillo was back skating today after being out for most of Saturday's game following his fight with Tim Gleason. That's a good sign as even though he hasn't been scoring like we had hoped he at least plays hard right now. THat and more injuries are just what we don't need right now.

Peter Mueller started skating for the first time since his concussion that he got from a stick to the head in the Ducks game on January 27th. Some reports said that he was still having some bad side effects and while he hasn't been cleared to play, the medical staff said he can skate and do other conditioning in the meantime which is a good sign. Hopefully he comes back soon, but healthy. A head injury is never something to rush back from, especially in only your 2nd season. Here's to hoping he tears it up when he comes back though.

Kurt Sauer also resumed skating though he's still a few weeks away from coming back. Goodness knows we could use him as he's played very well this year and our D has been lackluster at best lately. (See 7 goals on Sat.)
