Hamilton Bulldogs President Steve Ostaszewicz spoke to Hockey Central this afternoon, leading up to the team's home opener this Friday.
The Hamilton Bulldogs released their schedule and list of participants to open this year's training camp. Twenty-six forwards, 11 defencemen and five goaltenders will report for medicals and physicals on Friday at the Brossard sportsplex. Just 15 players from this year's camp saw action in Hamilton last season, with only two defensemen suiting up for the Bulldogs in 2011-12. Twenty-six-year-old Frederic St-Denis is the veteran of a very young defensive corps at this year's camp. The Bulldogs also announced that St. Denis, goaltender Cedrick Desjardins and forward Aaron Palushaj have signed AHL deals, enabling them to avoid NHL waivers. The first five days of on-ice camp will be in Sherbrooke, QC, before the team heads to Trenton, ON,for a community skate on Friday Oct. 5. The following Saturday the Bulldogs play their first pre-season game in Cobourg against the Toronto Marlies. The Dogs then head homeward to finish camp, before the season begins on October 12.
The crew from TSN690's "The Franchise," show spoke to a pair of Habs prospects, and certain Hamilton Bulldogs to start 2012-13, Louis Leblanc and Brendan Gallagher this morning.
This is what it's come to for Habs news these days. 21 players have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Canadiens' AHL affiliate. Among those players are players hoping to make the Habs at some point this year like Louis Leblanc and Brendan Gallagher. Oddly enough, and maybe an accidental omission by the Canadiens, Aaron Palushaj is not among their list of players assigned to the AHL. This move was to be expected with the lockout officially on, training camp won't be starting any time soon. The Bulldogs will be at the Bell Complexe Sportif on September 28th if you want to catch the beginning of their training camp. They'll be moving to Sherbrooke the next day to continue getting ready for the season. UPDATE: As reported by Marc-Antoine Godin of La Presse, Aaron Palushaj, Frederic St. Denis and Cedrick Desjardins will sign AHL contracts to avoid having to clear waivers.
Hey SSE: how about $1 beer Wednesdays? Only two of those on the current schedule. And when has a Rangers fan ever abused such an arrangement?
The AHL's Board of Governors ended its yearly meeting by announcing some changes for the 12-13 AHL season. The Rampage will now play in the renamed South Division, with the Charlotte Checkers moving in replacing the Abbotsford Heat.
The AHL champion Norfolk Admirals will be losing their affiliation with the Tampa Bay Lightning, per a report from the Virginian Pilot.
There's some controversy over whether the Norfolk Admirals overtime goal should've counted. The rule mentioned in the release states that any goal scored on a delayed offsides does not count unless a team puts the puck into their own net. Not that it matters in the end, because the call on the ice stands, and Norfolk is now up 3-0 in the series. Game 4 is tomorrow at 3 pm Eastern, and it ought to be very interesting.
Seems like it was for real coaching showing some emotion back there abuse of officials.
