Story first reported by FOX Sports Arizona's Craig Morgan:
The #Coyotes have reached agreement with RFA F Brandon McMillan on a 1-year, 2-way deal with an NHL salary of $625,000.— Craig Morgan (@cmorganfoxaz) July 15, 2014
McMillan played 22 games with the Coyotes last season, scoring two goals and six points. He had 11 goals and 26 points in 46 games with the AHL's Portland Pirates.
The 24-year-old was a tendered restricted free agent who filed for arbitration to sort out the AHL portion of his salary. The Coyotes and McMillan eventually settled on an AHL salary of $100,000 per Cap Geek. It appears he gave up a bit of the NHL salary to ensure a higher minor league salary should he be sent down. A smart move considering the glut of bottom-six forwards already on Arizona's roster.
McMillan gets $625K/$100K with a guarantee of $225K. In the event his blended salary doesn't reach at least $225K, Coyotes must top him off.— Craig Morgan (@cmorganfoxaz) July 15, 2014
