The Coyotes Make Roster Moves Prior To Weekend With Stars

The Coyotes have recalled center Andy Miele from the club's AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates. Miele failed to register a point in the 7 games he played with the parent club last season. He's scored 11 goals and dished out 17 helpers in his 40 games in Portland so far this season. Goaltender Chad Johnson, who put up a .952 save percentage in his two starts for the club this week, was sent down to Portland.

The club also announced defensemen David Rundblad has been sent down to the club's CHL affiliate, the Arizona Sundogs. The move to keep Rundblad in the state is the second time the Coyotes have sent a young player to their Prescott Valley club in as many weeks. On January 23 they sent forward Chris Brown to the Sundogs from Portland.

All the moves are likely a result of players either coming back from injury, like Mike Smith and Rostislav Klesla, and possible concerns about lingering injuries, potentially in the case of Martin Hanzal and/or Steve Sullivan.
