There are 46 days remaining until we finally get some Phoenix Coyotes hockey. This means the Countdown to Coyotes Preseason continues with number 46. The 46th game of the 2011-2012 season saw scoring milestones for Boyd Gordon, Gilbert Brule and the Coyotes team against the Colorado Avalanche on MLK day.
The 46th game was Boyd Gordon's first and only multi-goal game. Gordon scored both of his goals less than nine minutes apart. His two goals were a part of a six goal outburst by the Coyotes, which matched their highest goal total in a single game since 2006. The game also featured the first goal and assist for Gilbert Brule in a Coyotes sweater.
The 46th game also happened to be the first home game since Shane Doan scored his first career hat trick. Doan's encore included two more goals. The 6-1 victory was the largest margin of victory for the Coyotes last season.
