The Phoenix Coyotes improved their playoff fortunes by holding on to beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 on Thursday night in Glendale. It was a night when the older guys decided to take the bull by the horns. Raffi Torres continued his hot scoring streak and Kyle Chipchura added a goal in his second game back from injury. Ray Whitney's assist on Chipchura's goal now leaves him 4 points away from 1,000 for his career. Mike Smith stopped 39 of 41 shots on his 30th birthday.
On the topic of birthdays, we send out birthday wishes to Arthur, King of the Brittons.
