The forward became the second Phoenix Coyotes' player to sign with the Prescott Valley's CHL squad.
On Monday, the Arizona Sundogs announced they signed Kyle Chipchura. The rugged winger joins fellow Coyotes teammate David Schlemko on the squad. Schlemko's signing with the CHL squad was announced 10 days earlier. Both locked out players may see game action as soon as this Saturday's season opener for the Sundogs
Chipchura was the 18th selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He spent much of his time in the Canadiens' organization shuttling between their AHL affiliate in Hamilton and the parent club. In December of 2009, the Habs traded the forward to the Anaheim Ducks. He played two seasons in Orange County before signing as a free agent with Phoenix last off season. He struggled a bit initially in Phoenix, but after a brief trip down to the team's AHL affiliate in Portland, he returned and became a mainstay on the squad's fourth line. He wound up playing in 53 regular season contests for Phoenix, as well as every single playoff game for the team last season. The Westlock, Alberta native has scored 13 goals and registered 31 assists during the 216 regular season NHL games he has played in.
