Vaguely Evaluating Home Attendance With Coyotes Record
Halfway through the season and I started wondering if there has been any correlation between attendance and the Coyotes winning percentage on home ice. Well, here it is...

This is never a good analysis considering all of the variables, e.g. injuries, sellouts due to opponents' fans, back-to-back games, etc. In any case, though, it's always a little interesting to see how the team performs in front of a bigger audience. So far the larger crowds have been relatively disappointed; the Coyotes fans, that is.
Here's a breakdown of each game set. Sorry for the mystery red links. I am bad at coding.

Good work
As painful as it is to see all the numbers right next to each other it’s kind of cool to see how they’ve fared when the crowd is big or small.

Does not seem to be any correlation
This was something I have been wondering about. In my mind it seems like they play harder for larger crowds. Detroit and Boston in particular they really seemed to work hard. I conveniently forgot that that Vancouver game even happened.
That second Edmonton game needs a ‘W’ by it.
Ugh...
Well that’s an annoying mistake. Fixed! Thanks for pointing it out.
I’d think the atmosphere in those games played some kind of role. Maybe it was minor but it seems like playing in front of 17,000 fans instead of 7,000 would factor into their play… even if it is just a little.

Even if there is a correlation, which I also don’t see, correlation doesn’t mean causation. The bigger crowds are mostly against better teams. When the defending Stanley Cup champions come to town everyone wants to see the game for example.
…and I’d dare offer the point that there’s as many road fans at those ‘big’ games as there are Coyotes fans.
I remember the Avs game I went to middle of the week last year where it happened. And there weren’t more than 7k butts in seats.
It's not what you've done but what you are doing that matters.

attendance vs. wins
Just look at how the ‘Yotes play when the “Job” is packed! Look at road games vs. Chicago, Detroit, NYR, etc. Look at how they play on nationally televised games! This team thrives when the most eyes are watching. I’ve been to a few of the 6K-7K home games and the team looks dead.
