PrintThe Coyotes lost another shootout heartbreaker in Glendale on Thursday night. Todd Bertuzzi scored in the third round of the shooutout using a nice spin move to beat Mike Smith and give the Detroit Red Wings the victory. The game was marked by up and down play by the home team. The Yotes took the play to the Wings during significant stretches of the game, but were their own worst enemy at times including getting called for three too many men on the ice penalties. The Desert Dogs return to action with another home game on Saturday night against Tampa Bay.

I hate the spin move. As I’m sure the people in front and next to me heard after I cursed for a good 30 seconds straight after watching it happen.

It appeared the puck stopped dead and then Bertuzzi shot it. I’m pretty sure that’s illegal, but whatever. It actually should have never got that point with a 4 on 3 PP in OT. It would also help if the Yotes actually came close to hitting the net when shooting. Too many times last night it seemed the puck sailed over and to the sides of the net on shots.

The spin-o-rama type move where the player completes a 360° turn as he approaches the goal, shall be permitted as this involves continuous motion.

I’ve got no problems with it. When its successful it looks great, but there are plenty of times guys go to try it and lose the puck as well. As MIke245 said above the issue was the game getting to the shootout. Yotes were their worst enemy on Thursday.

I think both fanbases agree that the game shouldn’t have gotten so far. Wings wasted all those power play opportunities during regulation and then Phoenix couldn’t get it done on the OT 4-on-3.
It was definitely a game for both teams to build off of, but not something to be very happy about.
