Yes I really did pick a full slate of upsets in the west, I really don't think the top seeds are going to be able to hold down the fort.

If you want the excel spreadsheet for this please flick me an email to tholding (at) Gmail (dot) com and I'll forward it on to you. Send it back and I will add it onto this page for all to see. No prizes or anything, but will be interesting to see who picks who,

GO COYOTES!

I think we have a huge chance of winning it all

Hopefully, the team steps up when it counts most.

If we beat the Red Wings, and possibly go even further in the Playoffs/win it all, then potential owners will start appearing like crazy.

Yep.

Timmy’s officially on my shitlist. =P

Personally hoping for a Pens/Yotes Final, it’d be a wicked awesome 21st birthday present. So, uh, someone tell the boys to get on that, yeah? Haha.

Actually,

change the Eastern Conference Final to Washington-Boston, with Washington winning it. The SC Finals will still go to whomever wins the West.

Nope, you're on my shitlist now, too.

Anyone who picks Philly over Pittsburgh is just…that’s just…WRONG. It’s like picking CLEVELAND over Pittsburgh, and I don’t even LIKE football. UGH.

But you said Philly over Pittsburgh first.

And then you picked the Caps over us, which is just as bad. =P

Works for me, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen this season. Next year, it’s definitely a possibility, but so’s a Toronto-Avalanche SCF. Just sayin’.

All right, here's my 2 cents...

VAN-CHI: Vancouver in 5
Chicago barely made playoffs and they’re not the same team as last year. I think they’ve got Stanley Cup Hangover in the worst way and that’s going to be their downfall.

SJS-LAK: Kings in 6
I think it’ll be a good matchup, but I’ve got a better gut feeling about LA. Plus I know the Sharks have a history of choking.

DET-PHX: Yotes in 6
This one was a no-brainer. I think they’ve got a good shot at beating the Wings 1. because of the injuries and 2. because they got eliminated by the Wings last season. If that’s not incentive, I don’t know what is.

ANA-NSH: Ducks in 7
I think this is going to be the closest race and, again, I had to go with my gut. I can also see Nashville taking this series, but I can only pick one so Ducks it is.

WSH-NYR: Rangers in 6
Rangers were 3-1 against the Caps this season, I’m liking those odds. And need I mention what happened with the Caps and the #8 seed last year? Washington hasn’t had much playoff success, if I remember correctly; don’t be afraid to tell me I’m wrong, I usually am. Even if I am, I’m sticking with the Rangers simply because I don’t like the Capitals.

PHI-BUF: Buffalo in 7
Eh, I know Philly had a good season, but it’s a well-known fact that I’m no fan of theirs. That’s as much “benefit of the doubt” they’ll get from me.

BOS-MTL: Boston in 5
Montreal’s got great goaltending, but that only gets you so far. They might have the “emotional” advantage too, with the Pacioretty-Chara incident, but I think Boston takes it.

PIT-TBL: Pens in 6
The other no-brainer for me. I think we’ve got the better coach and the better players, when they decide to get their heads out of their butts and play to their potential.

Haven’t thought too much past the first round, but I’ll give you my picks anyway.

VAN-LAK: Vancouver
PHX-ANA: Yotes

BOS-NYR: Boston
PIT-BUF: Pens

VAN-PHX: Vancouver
As much as I hate to say it, I don’t think the boys make the SCF this year. I don’t think Tippett’s a strong enough coach (but he is MORE than welcome to prove me wrong on that point) and the boys just don’t have the experience and I think that’s their Achilles heel. I know there’s a first time for everything, but I think they’d have a better shot at it next year once they HAVE the experience of being this far into the playoffs and knowing what to expect.

PIT-BOS: No clue.
I want to say Pittsburgh, because they’re my boys, too, but I’m also looking at the reality of not having Sid and Geno and Jeffrey. If we can win the Cup without them, fantastic – look how far we’ve gotten already. At the same time, I can see them getting worn out and the Bruins taking it. We’ve got a little bit of a history of third period meltdowns with this team, which doesn’t help us, either. If I had to pick on, though, it’d be Pittsburgh, solely because Danny B is an amazing coach and I think he can pull them through.

VAN-PIT: Vancouver
Going with the Canucks here because I think they’re the physically stronger team when matched up against us. If we have Sid back, we stand a better shot, but I’d rather see him sit and KNOW he’s healthy rather than guess. And that goes for any guy with a concussion, not just him.

So, there it is. I can easily see a Boston-Vancouver final…who knows? I haven’t done a whole lot of looking into the matchups, just because I haven’t had the time and I prefer making educated guesses to guesses based on gut feelings. Once I get my blasted capstone out of the way…ugh.

When you have the SC Champs losing in the first round to a Buffalo team that is 100% relying on its goaltender playing huge, you have no chance of having it all right ;)

Seriously, although Buffalo worries me, as does the past month of the season, this Flyers team is too good, too deep and gained too much experience in last year’s run to bow out early this season.

But the Flyers weren't the Stanley Cup Champs...

They haven’t won since…when was it? Google says 1975 and I am inclined to agree.

And I would never put the words “Flyers” and “good” in the same sentence, unless one was preceded by a “not”. =P

Good thing I don’t have money riding on this bracket…

I was talking about deleting this year’s Stanley Cup champs since we are doing this bracket for this year’s postseason.

Uhhh, I wouldn’t call it Stanley Cup hangover I would call it exactly as you stated right before that… They are not the same team as last year. They had more turnover during the offseason than any team, and were clearly built for that one good run. I have no idea why they didn’t just hold the team together a little better and go for another run, but I guess they probably were worried about the cap because I’m sure they had to give quite a few players raises…

What the hell, I don't know a damned thing on this...

Vancouver over Chicago in 6
San Jose over LA in 6
Phoenix over Detroit in 7
Nashville over Anaheim in 5

Rangers over Capitals in 7
Philly over Buffalo in 6
Boston over Montreal in 6
Tampa over Pittsburg in 5

Canucks over Coyotes in 6
Sharks over Predators in 6

Philly over Rangers in 5
Tampa over Boston in 7

Sharks over Canucks in 7
Tampa over Philly in 5

Tampa over San Jose in 7

Tampa?

with what defense? and a 75 y/o goalie?… I don’t see them making it passed round #2… Just sayin’…. I would take the SJ offense over TB’s, and I think SJ has better D and much better goalie… I would be shocked if TB could beat the Sharks in a 7 game series… But then again the Sharks have done nothing in previous playoff appearances to support my theory:) TB has top-end firepower on their first line, and pretty killer PP because of it (at least against the Coyotes, but thats not saying much), but defense and depth are what get you far in the playoffs, and those are two things I think TB is lacking…

Timmy,

That should be her Eastern Conference Final. The second round should be BOS-NYR
PIT-BUF
