After Another Hard Loss Coyotes Seek Redemption Against Kings

It's been a rough week and a half for the Coyotes, two blowout losses, a comeback that fell just short of a win in the shootout and a gut wrenching loss to the Stars with seconds to go after tying the game up late. Just brutal. Hopefully that loss to the Stars woke some guys up. It certainly did Keith Yandle and Derek Morris who were sent off late for yelling at the refs. If they can turn that anger and frustration into fuel to beat the Kings that would help the cause quite a bit. Especially with the roll the Kings have been on of late. Sure they dropped a bunch, but in the west getting back on a winning streak puts you right back into the pack of playoff contenders it seems. Now with the addition of Dustin Penner they're looking to be even more dangerous.

On the bright side of things Ilya Bryzgalov has owned Staples Center since becoming the Coyotes goaltender. He's gone 6-0-1 against the crowned ones in that time. The Coyotes need to get on the board early though to give Bryz some support, these late game heroics obviously aren't working and the team should know it as they haven't played the first half of the games over these last four. They didn't exactly play a bad game against Dallas, but they gave up the lead and then got locked down defensively. They just seem to be playing without the fire that was there just a little while ago. They need to start making their own luck again, get a dirty goal or two and be sure to get Martin Hanzal in front of the net. No review necessary.

I'm not the biggest believer in the +/- stat, but when you're a -11 and the closest guy to you on the team is a -3 that seems to show that there's something going on with your game. DMo is a good player, but his game has been off this year and with Ed Jovanovski out of the lineup he's got to pick it up.

Dustin Penner

#25 / Left Wing / Los Angeles Kings

In his debut with the Kings we'll see what he's capable of. Hopefully getting used to new linemates take him a couple of games.
