It seems that with all the goaltending prospects in the pipeline the Coyotes have decided that Al Montoya is no long a part of the Coyotes plans. The Islanders, desparate for anyone that can play goalie for them at this point, have reportedly sent a 6th round pick the Coyotes way in exchange for him.
Seeing only sporatic playing time behind Matt Climie in San Antonio, Montoya was 11-8 with a 3.19 GAA and .891 sv% in 21 appearances. The move will make room for either Mark Visentin or Mike Lee to get some AHL starts next year too. Montoya will report to the AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
