Martin Hanzal signs 2 Year Deal with Phoenix Coyotes
The long wait is finally over as Phoenix Coyotes fans everywhere were relieved to hear that center Martin Hanzal has signed a two year deal with the team. There were rumors about things not going well in negotiations and the possibility of him signing in the KHL even, but those worries were all for naught as the parties agreed to a 3.6 million dollar deal. In terms of cap hit Hanzal will cost 1.8 a year, but the team front loaded the contract reportedly so as to have the new owners pay more of the deal.
Hanzal hasn't been an offensive force for the team, though he has a monster shot, his main role has been shutting down every other top line in the league. The guy is a beast of a defensive forward and it's a shame they couldn't have locked him up longer. Once this financial mess with the team gets figured out they'll hopefully find a way to work out an extension or something because he's going to be Selke award worth in the years to come.

This is what I"ve been waiting for
for the entire summer. He is one of my top 3 players on the time. Its not the goals or assists that he does, thats not him, but the guy is a brick wall when it comes to taking down some of the top lines in the NHL. The little things you don’t see on score sheets he does. Now if we could get the ownership issue out of the way we’d be set.
There are two coyotes inside every fan, a good one and a bad one, so which coyote do you feed?
Great job GMDM!
Wouldn’t have believed it when the summer started, but Maloney did a great job getting everyone he could back. Maybe now he can use his super powers to work with Glendale to get the new lease signed..

Allegedly they want it done ASAP before the NHL can start taking that 25mil they set aside for losses.

All I keep thinking of is that old-timer at the council meeting where they approved the $25m that was talking about his water bills going up. I just wanted to tell him that right or wrong, Gdale already made the investment when they built the arena, and now they’re just doing what they have to to protect it. I hope there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we’re not privy to because on the surface, it appears that they still think they have a leg to stand on. With 3.5 months to go and the bills starting Wed, I beg to differ. Tough sell to your constituents that you’re city is broke, but you’re financing a hockey team. Get it done Gdale!

WOOOHOOO
This was signing I have been most excited for and GMDM got him at a great deal in my opinion.
Cost me 3.3 a year to sign him to a 6 year extension in NHL 2011 lol
I am very glad that Hanzal resigned.
Too bad that we lost Michalak, but hopefully that won’t (and shouldn’t) be devastating.
This is my first post here, but I lurked all of last season popping in on occasion. My home board is AzSnakepit.

Welcome
Great to have another voice
Michalak’s loss is very painful but over time I’m finding its not a complete disaster. With that opening there is now a greater spot for my buddy Oliver Larson, who otherwise might have been overshadowed by Michalek. Look at how well Yandle did when he was given that chance.
He’s going to really have to compete with Max Goncharov though. Kid is a beast.
