Coyote Tracks - TGIF April 30 Edition
Ok...running a bit late with these today (i.e., I didn't do them last night like normal). So here's links. Got more to add, post 'em in the comments. I don't know what Travis has planned for the weekend, so this might just serve as an open thread through Monday...have at it, folks!
LAST NIGHT'S NHL SCORES: DET 3 - SJ 4 (San Jose leads series 1-0).
Phoenix Coyotes players part ways for summer
With most of their playoff scruff shaved, the Coyotes paraded back into Jobing.com Arena for one last time on Thursday.
Poll: Hart Trophy Finalists - From The Rink
Who are the finalists for the NHL MVP? Some people might disagree with the names (i.e. both Mike and I think that Ilya Bryzgalov and Ryan Miller are conspicuously absent from these finalists. I think the voters that refuse to vote for a goalie for MVP are just idiots - like MLB voters that don't think pitchers can be MVP. But whatever...).

A good breakdown of everyone who was nominated and their pros and cons for winning the award.
Top 10 Secondary Players in Round 1 | The Hockey Writers
These are the guys that aren't picked in the first 10 round of your playoff pool. Some of them aren't even picked at all. [s/t @Yotesgurl] - Good to see that Martin Hanzal is getting some national recognition. Surprised that Keith Yandle doesn't also make this list after the solid series he had. And former Coyotes pest Dan Carcillo has really developed into a solid forward for the Flyers this year...
D.C. Sports Bog - Brooks Laich changes a tire after Game 7
Just a great story out of DC on the heels of the Capitals shocking loss to the Canadiens. Brooks Laich strikes me as a very cool guy...
Chicago's Duncan Keith assaults Nashville fan; where's the NHL suspension? - On the Forecheck
In the late stages of Game Four last week in Nashville, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith sat in the penalty box and had some back-and-forth with a Predators fan, retaliating at the end by spraying the fan with water before heading back out on the ice. According to NHL rules, he should have been suspended. An interesting debate about the NHL enforcing it's rules...

I can almost see the point of not thinking pitchers can be the MVP in baseball. The reason people always give me for that is that the pitcher doesn’t play every game. But, this reasoning doesn’t apply to hockey. Goalies play just as much as other players. What people say about the Hart trophy and goalies is that goalies have their own award. I think this is ridiculous. The Vezina trophy doesn’t have the same qualifications as the Hart trophy. A lot of people think the Vezina should be based on stats, while the Hart is given based on a player’s value to his team.
I defy anyone to tell me there were 3 players more valuable to their team than Bryz. My nominees would have been Bryz, Miller and Sedin.
Also surprised about Yandle not making that list.
Goddamn, but Carcillo is an ugly something or other.
