Coyotes 1 v. Red Wings 6: Nothing To Be Ashamed Of

The reports of the Detroit Red Wings' demise have been greatly exaggerated. They were written off at various points in the season and it looked like the Coyotes might have had a good shot at knocking them out of the first round. And then, the Red Wings played like the Red Wings that have made it to two straight Stanley Cup Finals. Their best players were their best players while Phoenix's, outside of the miraculous Ilya Bryzgalov, were invisible at best. The team put up with a ridiculous amount of mockery, pressure, and scorn and put together 50 wins and pushed the Wings to seven games. The effort wasn't the best but it shouldn't erase an entire season's worth of good. Travis will have a lot more on the game and the series and the season but from one fan to another: thanks for the hope.

good run this year

Thanks Everyone

this kinda reminds me of the song, “You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here” lol. Our playoff experience is over, but find another team to cheer on. Jump on another teams bandwagon as you’ve done with us and hope for the best. I’m thankful for the class alot of you have shown and dedication making us your #1 team this post season.

They are one of my tops

to go to the cup. The other is the Nucks. As long as a western conf. team wins I’m good. Except for at the end if it’s the Wings. I just truly do not like them. Like everyone says, they are the Yankees, Packers, or Lakers of the NHL.

And you guys should be proud. I was heading to bed, but I just wanted to share that first. I was nothing, if not impressed by everything the Yotes did this year, including bringing the hottest team since the olympic break to 7 games.

Congrats on a great year and I hope you have lots to look forward to!

Yep it sux but the way I look at it is, we finally made it. After 8 years of being gone from the playoffs we are back. And we intend to stay here. Makes me wanna literally cry cuz the cinderella story is over lol, but it still has a happy ending, even if we don’t see it right now.

I don’t care what happened, or what will happen, this was one for the ages. For a patchwork squad of players and a coach that joined 2 weeks before the season, I couldn’t be more proud of the boys. Hey all

I’ll reiterate this in the morning when I do the Daily Links, but I just want to thank everyone that’s made their way over here to FfH over the last 2 weeks and given your support…particularly, Brad Lee and PPP and everyone at your respective sites. I’ve been helping out Travis with the site for a few months now and I can say that the activity over the last two weeks has been very rewarding and it’s been fun to chat with all of you about hockey and the Coyotes. I know that there will probably never be another confluence of events that so lends itself to all of you coming back and supporting this team the way you have, but know that for all of us at Five For Howling, you are welcome any time.

Thanks for hosting us, and for the incredibly entertaining and inspiring season. All this talk of overcoming adversity and elevating one’s play is often just that: talk. In the 09-10 ‘Yotes, we got to experience a brand of hockey that transcended those cliches. Pure, unbridaled, badass fucking hockey. You’d better show up in October with that same intensity, because you know Doan and his boys sure will.

We're a bit heartbroken, more than a usual playoff loss.

But we shall all chime in with our recaps, and celebrate the glorious season The Team With No Name has put forth.

This was a sad outing, and we can all agree on that. To what degree we all at FFH take it, I’ll let everyone speak for theselves. What I can say, on behalf of Travis, Moridon, and myself….. Yes, we wanted to see the ‘Yotes showcase what made them awesome, all year ’round. We didn’t get it. It was borderline embarassing. And not because Detorit is some awesome powerhouse, either. We didn’t show up, when we needed to most.

We’ll recap it all individually, And although we’ll be blasted through cyberspace for the next few days, we’re glad Phoenix has your attention now. It’s not like we haven’t dealt with for the last few years, anyways.

Dear San Jose: Murder these pricks.

Great series - virtual handshake

Hey Coyotes fans, what a great series. Your team took my beloved Red Wings right to the brink. I was more than impressed with the Coyotes. The team works hard, is fast, stays within their system, has a commitment to defense and just plain competes.

Shane Doan taking himself out instead of running over Jimmy Howard was a classy move. As Red Wings fans, we might really like dis-liking Doan, but in the end he’s a class act that just plays hard. We can appreciate and respect that.

What a great future awaits this Coyotes team. Next season they will be a force in the Western Conference and back in the playoffs again. I will enjoy watching, except when the Coyotes play my Wings ;-)

by mjsmith1223 on Apr 28, 2010 8:37 AM MST reply actions

Well Said

I’ve always like Doan.

He plays hard and is a definitely leader for Phoenix. Could tell he wanted to be out there, but after hearing how bad his shoulder was, I realized the “game time decision” status was just to keep the Wings on their toes.

Hopefully he comes back 100% with no lingering effects and continues to lead this Phoenix team the same way he has been.
