Coyote Tracks - WHITEOUT Tuesday April 27 Edition
Tonight, 6 PM local time, Jobing.com Arena, Coyotes, Red Wings, 2 teams enter, 1 team survives. It doesn't get any better than this, huh? For the Phoenix sports fan that is looking for drama, excitement and every reason that hockey is awesome, I suggest that you are tuned in to this one. This series has had a bit of everything and has been one of, if not the single best, series of the first rounds of the playoffs this year.
Travis will have a full preview up in a bit to go through the match-ups, key players, etc. etc. The big question for the Coyotes will be, is Shane Doan going to be back in the lineup...more on that in a bit. The truth of the matter is, the Coyotes have proven that they can win when he is out of the lineup and Dave Tippett is not going to force things. If Doan can't contribute fully, he's not going to play...but we'll cross that bridge when we get there tonight.
LAST NIGHT'S NHL SCORES: BUF 3 - BOS 4 (Boston wins series 4-2); WAS 1 - MTL 4 (Series tied at 3); CHI 5 - NSH 3 (Chicago wins series 4-2).
So 2 series are going the distance with Washington facing a surprisingly tough Montreal squad in DC tomorrow night and the Coyotes playing tonight. If the Coyotes win, they'll face San Jose in the next round as Chicago and Vancouver will have a rematch from last year's playoffs.
After the jump, more reactions from game 6, previews (of a sort) for game 7, and some more stuff...
Game 7 Arrives, and the Coyotes Hope to Stay - NYTimes.com
Shane Doan, the team captain, helped Phoenix win 50 games in a season marred by bankruptcy and a threatened move.
Phoenix Coyotes one win away from making a little history
The Coyotes can advance to the second round of the playoffs for only the third time in team history.
Phoenix Coyotes' Shane Doan could make an emotional return
Shane Doan: ''As long as we're winning, I'm happy." You gotta love quotes like this from the Captain, and it's why he's the best there is...it's gotta be killing him not to be out there the last few days, but it's all about the team first, pack mentality...
In Game 7, Coyotes look to white-out Red Wings - USATODAY.com
Although the Phoenix Coyotes lost Games 2 and 5 at home in their opening-round playoff series, coach Dave Tippett doesn't accept the idea his team has a home-ice disadvantage going into Tuesday night's Game 7 against the Detroit Red Wings.
Alright, now for some reactions from around the hockey blogosphere from the weekend...we'll start with some charming articles from Detroit:
Mitch Albom: Red Wings' legacy on the line in desert after awful loss | freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Sunday, crummy Sunday. The Red Wings could not defend their net, their home ice or their series lead in Game 6. Now we see if they can defend their legacy.
Humiliation will lead to redemption | MLive.com
Yeah - those are the types of articles that capture why the rest of the hockey fanbase has flocked to the Coyotes right there...good stuff.

NHL Playoffs Underway: How’s Your Phoenix Coyotes’ Postseason Beard Coming? - In Progress At Press Time
Haven't done a Beard-a-thon update in a while, but this article has some updates on how the Coyotes have done raising money so far. I know my beard is itchy as heck at times, but hopefully it will help the team to victory tonight. And if you are so inclined as to donate a little $$$ my way and pledge support to my beard efforts, I certainly would not object :)

There's really nothing much to this article, but I don't want you to think that we at fiveforhowling are not paying attention to this situation still...we will break news regarding the Coyotes ownership as soon as we hear anything.

Beat Detroit!!
I’m pulling for you guys, but I’m going to have to start hating you again if you win and play the Sharks. :)
Keeping it real. Keeping it fresh. Keeping it real fresh.
It's ok check.check
We never stopped hating the Sharks. We’re coming for Joe(all of them) and Heatley. Also you made a typo you meant “when we win and play the Sharks”.
Nabakov is going to have flashbacks to the Olympics, but Breezy won’t bail him out this time.

Yeah, it’s been a great series. Thanks for coming by and being one of the few non-trolling Red Wings fans. You and ahtrap – haven’t seen him recently :`( – were really two of the only ones…we’ve had to ban a bunch. But, speaking for myself, I’ve enjoyed your take on things from the Detroit perspective. Enjoy the game tonight…don’t get killed in the GDT…and may the best team win (and by “best”, I mean team with the most points in the regular season playing on home ice tonight ;-p)
