Long time Ranger fan here and as you know the Rangers choked themselves out of a playoff spot so I need a team to cheer for in the playoffs. After last nights amazing performance I choose the Coyotes to be my Western conference representative.
I have to be honest, I haven't watched many Coyotes games this year (even though Prucha is still one of my all-time favorite Rangers, and how could you not love a team that hires Tyson Nash as a commentator) but this team is for real. I like many other hockey fans waited for this team to fall apart after there hot start, and thought they would be easy pickings for the Red Wings in the first round. Wow, was I ever wrong.
This team is an ideal playoff team. Great goaltending, solid D, grit, and great depth on there forward units. I see them as the kryptonite for all the other top Western conference teams. Even though they may not be as dynamically talented as the Wings, Blackhawks, and Sharks, I think that stylistically they match up perfectly against these teams. It won't be easy to get past the Wings but if the Coyotes do I think that the only team that will pose a legitimate threat to them is Chicago.
Coyotes 2010 Stanley Cup Champions? As crazy as this would of sounded in September, it is now a realistic possibility.
