Colorado Avalanche at Phoenix Coyotes - Game #76 Preview - Peter? No Idea Who You're Talking About...
Remember once upon a time when GM Don Maloney did that awesome trade with the Avalanche that netted us Wojtek Wolski and we had to give them Kevin Porter and some other guy? That was a really good trade eh? I guess that other guy has gotten them a few points, but the Phoenix Coyotes went on a tear after he left and the Avs have been slipping a bit and are looking to fall to maybe 8th. Eep. Too soon to see who won that deal, but hey, so long as we're winning now am I right? Yeah...
The Coyotes are looking to get fully back on track after a come back overtime loss to Nashville. The Coyotes showed a lot of heart battling back from a 3-1 deficit with 10 minutes left in the game to get one point out of the game, and more importantly broke out of a funk they had been in through the Chicago game and into the Nashville one. they'll need the momentum to finally clinch their playoff spot tonight. Lee Stempniak finally scored again after a brutal 2 game drought (kidding) with the early goal, but it wasn't enough to get us over the top. We'll need to bring it tonight.
The 'Lanche haven't been doing terribly, they just haven't been quite as good as the teams around them. They beat the Kings in overtime on Wednesday, but had lost their previous 3 games. (Ducks, Kings and Flames) They haven't done terribly and really aren't in danger of missing the Playoffs, just in danger of slipping and getting what may not be the best matchup.
Starting Goalies
The only game Bryz probably doesn't play from here on out is one of either the Canucks or Flames games in the back-to-back later this week. I'd say to rest him, but he's still looking sharp. Maybe the defense needs a rest...
They're not putting Budaj in with how much the Avs could use th points right now. Anderson has been outstanding this year, but they need him to continue.... but not tonight...
Key Players
I know I usually put Stempniak here, and he did get the goal the other night, but Wolski still wants to prove something to the Avs. Go out there and do it tonight kid.

I had a Volvo once… ran like a champ… good to have another one… hope he runs as good as my other one LOL
Lets put our spot to bed and work on that home ice advantage!
Takin over the NHL, 1 blocked shot at a time... Go Z!
I figure
That he needed more V sounds in his name.

I’m still a little perplexed by the petey hating. I went to that first game against the avs after the trade, and for all the boobirds every time he touched the puck, I saw a LOT of red #88 jerseys in the crowd. He’s gone from being my favorite ‘yotes player to my new favorite av. Not really his fault he was concussed or otherwise injured for half his time here and wasn’t given much of shot the other half. And 15 points in 11 games isn’t too shabby for the new team.
note however, the everett silvertip bias (where he played his minor league hockey and I got to watch him tear up the WHL) ;)
Well I don't hate the guy,
but it’s certainly disappointing at best when a guy that I defended much like you said, for the concussion and such while everyone was piling on, to basically phone things in here after asking for a trade. It’s one thing to want a change of scenery or something, but he just showed up and didn’t work hard this season. It’s really asking for the trade early and then just dragging his feet that left bad memories for people.

And as for being given a shot.
He was. repeatedly, but when just when you thought he was getting things going he would stop trying again. It was frustrating to watch since I liked the kid too. He’d have one good game and then come out the next one like things should just happen instead of working for them.
