Olli Jokinen Suspended 3 Games For Cross Checking Wojtek Wolski

The title says most of it, but the NHL has suspended the Calgary Flames' Olli Jokinen for his cross check on Phoenix Coyotes forward Wojtek Wolski in the 3rd period of last night's game. Jokinen was given a 5 minute major as well as a game misconduct for the hit. While Wolski wasn't seriously injured, these types of hits are exactly what the league doesn't want in the game anymore. Jokinen wasn't even really involved in the play, but came over late as Wolski was tied up with Miklas Hagman and just laid the stick into Wolski's face. 3 games seems about right as Daniel Briere got the same for a similar type of hit against Frans Nielson.

Jokinen will miss games against the Blackhawks, Red Wings and Rangers before playing again on the 24th in New Jersey.
